Advent Open House 2014
09/12/14 16:46
Since 1990 we have had an Open House on the 2nd Advent - maybe twice we have not held it during all those years. We invite friends, neighbors, church people and our English students. This year attendance was down - only about 35 came. Some years we had about 60 and the apartment was so full that we could hardly move. So even though this year was smaller it was more enjoyable. People stayed longer and some of the talks were deeper.
We baked the week before with help coming in preparation and clean up from church people.
Conversations ranged from good books to read to news media not giving us all the information we need to make intelligent decisions. One very good talk that I had was with a woman who had had a stroke this fall and if we are prepared to die. We also invited people to our church’s Christmas Eve Service.
It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
